What an exciting week! Did you know it’s International Compost Awareness week and I’m the ambassador? Check it out here. I really love compost! International Composting Awareness Week (ICAW), is a week of activities, events and publicity to improve awareness of the importance of compost, a valuable organic resource, and to promote compost use, knowledge and products. We can compost to help scrap carbon pollution by avoiding landfilling organic materials and helping to build healthier soils.
This is also the week that me and my friends dirtgirl and scrapboy are launching a grubby new project: Compost Rocks. It will run from now until December. It’s supported by the NSW EPA as part of Waste Less, Recycle More, funded from the waste levy. We’re aiming to show everyone how to turn your spoils into soils!
The campaign has 10 brand new webisodes, free downloads of compost information, community service announcements and a grubby social media campaign going out to our community of almost a million people! We also have free resources for local councils in NSW to get some compost action happening in their communities.
This new website is where you’ll find my very own Compost Academy, which stands for all things compost! Recycling your organics (that’s anything that was once alive) is one of the greatest favours you can do the planet. It reduces landfill and the result – fabulous, rich compost – is an amazing way to put nutrients back into your soil! Enrolments are open now – just sign up here! It’s FREE!
Now is a great time to get involved! Sign up here to receive the Compost Rocks newsletter and keep up to date with the latest webisodes, the top tips and heaps of other compost information!
I can’t wait to get funky in the compost with you!
